The Coroner is a doctor or lawyer responsible for investigating deaths in particular situations. An Inquest is a legal enquiry into the causes and circumstances of a death.
Relatives can attend an Inquest and ask questions of witnesses - these questions can only be about the medical cause and circumstances of the death. Relatives can ask a lawyer to represent them. It may be important to have legal representation, particularly if the death was caused by a road accident, an accident at work or other circumstances which could lead to a claim for compensation.
We are able to provide you with representation at a Coroner’s Inquest if a family member has died in any of the following circumstances:-
- After an accident or injury
- During a surgical operation
- Before recovery from an anaesthetic
- Following a road traffic accident
- If the cause of death is unknown
We can represent you either for a fixed cost, agreed in advance, or as part of an ongoing process of investigation into a clinical negligence or personal injury compensation claim. In the latter case, you will not have to pay us anything up front.
Please call us for a free of charge, no obligation discussion.
