Employment law changes coming into effect in April 2015

April is historically a time when a number of legislative changes come into effect, and this year the following laws are being implemented:
Shared parental leave is available to parents of children due to be born or placed for adoption on or after 5 April 2015.
Adoption rights have been increased to more closely reflect maternity rights, and extended to those adopting from outside the UK.
Parents will remain eligible to take unpaid parental leave up to a child’s 18th birthday (before April 2015 this was only available to parents of children under 5, unless the child was disabled).
