Energy Performance Certificates - Reminder

Builders and developers of commercial properties are reminded that the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive will apply to commercial buildings from 6 April 2008. The Directive will require Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) to be prepared for all buildings which are to be subject to sale or rent, if they have a floor area of more than 500 square metres.

New buildings will require an EPC before the certificate of completion will be issued. Where buildings are to be sold or let, the EPC must be made available to prospective purchasers or tenants.
