The number of home-based businesses has reached two million according to a report by the Commission for Rural Communities. It found that more than one in nine economically active people in rural England work mainly from home, with one in 12 urban dwellers working mainly from home.
It therefore seems an opportune time to remind home-workers that such areas as planning, insurance and health and safety cannot be ignored simply because the workplace is one’s own home.
