Leading law firm Barlow Robbins has assembled a team of cyclists to ride the (almost) 300 miles from Greenwich Park London to The Arc de Triomphe in Paris as part of the Royal British Legions annual Pedal to Paris ride. This year the ride takes place from 1st to 4th September 2011.

Left to Right: Ray Black, Philip Stephenson, Tim Adams, William Black, Jonathan Steele.
The team, christened The Barlow City Rollers, consists of Tim Adams, Philip Stephenson, Jonny Steele, Ray Black and his son Will Black who, at 16 years of age, will be one of the youngest riders undertaking the challenge.
The Barlow City Rollers hope to raise at least £4,000 to support the Royal British Legion. The charity provides crucial financial, social and emotional support to members of the armed forces, and their dependants, who have served their country and have since found themselves in need of help. Nearly 10.5 million men, women and children are eligible for this support and the call on the welfare services offered is ever increasing.
Barlow Robbins’ Chief Operations Officer, and Barlow City Rollers team member, Ray Black commented:
“We at Barlow Robbins take our responsibility to give back to our community very seriously. The Royal British Legion is a charity close to our hearts. Many of us have family or friends who have been involved in the forces and this team is no exception. We are delighted to be able to take part in such a challenging and rewarding event to help raise money for this worthy cause.”
The team’s links to the armed forces include a wife’s grandfather who survived the Somme and whose uncle was shot by the Japanese in Burma; a cousin who is a Major in the army and has served in Afghanistan and Iraq; an old client of the firm (long deceased) who was at the Battle of Jutland; and a former Partner of the firm who won the MC in the Second World War. Closer to home Ray’s son, and Will’s brother, is joining the army and begins officer training at Sandhurst in January.
