Our Expertise and Experience
We have a long established reputation within the charity and social enterprise sector, with expertise in all aspects of charity law and in offering specialist advice. Our history in advising charities began with advice to faith charities. We now act for a wide variety of charitable trusts, associations and companies, ranging from local to international.
Charities have a separate and independent body of law with which they must comply and which affects nearly every transaction that they undertake.
Charities are also overwhelmed by demands: regulation, changing legislation, fulfilling their charitable objectives, expectations of trustees, their employees, supporters and service users and all whilst conducting their charitable work under the watchful eye of the media and the general public.
Our Charity team understands these demands. We use our cross-departmental expertise to advise charities of all sizes comprehensively throughout their lifetime. Lawyers in our firm act as trustees and governors. This hands on experience of the sector is at the heart of the practical advice on offer.
The firm's experience of dealing with applications and negotiations with the Charity Commission is reflected in their appointment to the panel of Interim Managers.
Our Service Promise
The strength of the Charity team lies not just in the depth of its expertise, but also in the way that it deals with client relationships. Members of the team take the time to understand the nature of the client’s business and the pressures that it faces, including regular face to face meetings at your place of work, attendance at trustee meetings and AGMs.
Our clients appreciate the fact that we are straightforward and easy to deal with, as well as responsive and pragmatic. We get to know our clients and build long-term relationships so that we can provide the support and advice they need. We take pride in the fact that many of our clients are long-standing.
