At Barlow Robbins LLP we provide an environment where our trainees can learn and develop their legal and business skills. We aim to give trainees responsibility and client involvement working under the supervision of Partners or other Lawyers to enable them to become a successful Solicitor upon qualification.
All trainees will report to the firm’s Training Principal and will be assigned a mentor throughout their training contract. The mentor will act as a point of contact and support for the trainee.
The two year Training Contract is divided in to four seats so that we ensure, where possible, that Trainees spend six months in each of our four main areas (business services, property, private client services and dispute resolution), working within our offices in Guildford and Woking. Our Trainee Solicitors will be assigned to different Supervising Partners who will provide exposure to a wide variety of cases and clients.
Throughout the Training Contract, there will be regular reviews with the Supervising Partner at three month (mid-seat) and six month (end of seat) intervals to provide opportunity for two-way feedback and for personal development objectives to be agreed.
Our Trainee Solicitors will be given the opportunity to handle their own cases and particular matters from beginning to end, where possible and as soon as they and their Supervising Partner feel that they are competent to do so and that the Trainee Solicitor is sufficiently confident of their own abilities.
As a member of Law South, Barlow Robbins LLP has access to accredited courses provided specifically to meet the needs of the member firms. All of our Trainee Solicitors will attend the Professional Skills Course modules run by Law South with the cost met by Barlow Robbins LLP.

We seek to recruit high calibre graduates with 'A' levels in academic subjects, who are preferably, but not necessarily, law graduates. At Barlow Robbins we look for individuals who are articulate, ambitious, clear thinking, able to use their common sense, care about people, react positively to pressure and have preferably had commercial as well as legal work experience.

- Support for LPC
The firm will make a £5,000 contribution towards the cost of the LPC payable directly to the LPC provider, plus an interest free loan for the balance of the fees, repayable over the two years of the training contract.

We consider trainees to be an investment in the practice's future. We aim to retain as many of our trainees as possible as newly qualified solicitors, if there are appropriate opportunities at the time of qualification, particularly those who have proved, during their training contract, that they are technically competent, committed, ambitious and have entrepreneurial skills.
