Fractured Hip After Fall in Hospital

14 September 2017

We acted for an elderly gentleman who sustained a hip fracture. He was admitted to St. Peter’s Hospital for an operation to treat the hip fracture. The gentleman was sadly suffering from dementia and should have been identified as being at high risk of falls.

As a result of the Hospital’s negligence, the gentleman who fell from his hospital bed whilst recovering from this operation, sustained the secondary hip fracture. We established several failings in the standard of care provided by the Hospital and settled the matter without the need for Court proceedings at an early stage.
