Sporting accidents abroad
If you participate in sporting holidays incorporating sporting activities such as jet ski, skiing or snowboarding, you will be aware that they can carry risk of injury. You can be severely injured as a result of a sporting accident.
- Can I claim for a sporting accident abroad?
Quite often, people return from such holidays with injuries. However, if the injuries suffered were not your fault you may be able to make a claim for personal injury and associated financial losses.
- Do I have a valid claim?
In order to make a claim, the accident must have been caused by one or more of the following:-
- Another participant- such as another skier or snowboarder
- Faulty equipment
- Faulty resort equipment such as a ski lift being poorly maintained
- Inadequate / unsafe tuition
- Failure to provide safety protection, such as helmets
If you have suffered an injury at the hands of another sports participant, we will be able to advise you whether or not they have been negligent. At this stage reference will be made to the rules of conduct. For example, if you have a skiing accident, the rules are set out by The International Ski Federation which offer guidance to all slope users.

Claims can also be brought if injury has been sustained using hotel sporting facilities for example, swimming pool, hotel gymnasium or event hotel spa facilities.
