Safeguarding your school's reputation

07 December 2016

Our next autumn Education Conference will be held on Wednesday 7 December 2016 at Loseley Park near Guildford. This is aimed at the School’s SLT, the Governing Body and any person involved in PR/Communications and HR.

In the current climate and culture of exposing recent and non-recent institutional failings, schools need to fully understand what is required of them and to anticipate any collateral damage to their reputation. We will explore, with the assistance of our eminent guest speakers, a range of legal and practical measures to help you deal with allegations against staff/pupils, to protect the School and its reputation and to navigate the ever changing inspection regime.

Our guest speakers are Tim Toulmin and Durell Barnes. Tim is Managing Director of Alder, a management and communication consultancy which advises schools at times of crisis, uncertainty or change and is a former Director of the Press Complaints Commission. He will explore the deployment of communications to protect the school’s reputation in the face of adversity. Durell Barnes is a freelance education consultant specialising in providing guidance and training on governance, safeguarding and inspection and is a former Deputy Director/Head of Communications at the ISI. He will provide a timely update on the inspection regime.

A Panel discussion will address some of the key issues raised and delegates will be invited to participate in the discussion.
